<image:caption>June 4, 2025 Healing Body Image from the Inside Out with Deb Schachter | All the Things This one’s for anyone who’s ever struggled with how they see and feel about their body. I sat down with Deb Schachter, co-author (with Whitney Otto) of Body Image, Inside Out, for a real, honest conversation about body image—what shapes it, how it lives in our nervous system, and how healing is an inside-out process. We talked about what it’s like to carry body image issues for years, how we pass those patterns down (even without meaning to), and how we can start to shift things—especially as parents or people working through our own stuff while trying to do better. Deb brings a gentle, grounded presence to this topic, and this conversation will leave you feeling seen, supported, and maybe even inspired to look at your own relationship with your body a little differently.</image:caption>

I apply the same explorations I do with food from a somatic perspective to body image. I started to wonder why is it that you can look in the mirror and love what you see one day and then later that day or the next day look in the mirror and feel like everything needs to change. Your body did not change within 24 hours. The answer is your nervous system. You will perceive your body differently based on your nervous system state. Often body image worries increase when you don't feel safe. In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I chat with Deb Schachter, author and Boston’s leading clinicians in body image and eating disorder recovery, about: Navigating bad body image moments The role of relationships in body image What your body is trying to tell you through body image concerns An internal family systems perspective on body image The importance of connection and community on this healing path</image:caption>
